Creating a Solution

Now I will explain how to create a solution.

A solution is a container for a set of projects. A Project is a container for code files. The code files in the project usually relate to each other and all the project in a solution relate to each other. You can reference other projects that are in the solution with ease.

I use Visual Studio 2010. But the same principles apply in setting up a new solution.
First you click on New Project. Then you Select what type of project you want to create. Here I am going to create a Windows Form Application. You set a name for the solution and click ok.

Congratulations, you now have solution set up and you can start coding/creating an application.
I will continue in my next post. For now look around your IDE and see what you can find. Play around a bit. Ask me questions.

  1. I once programmed this incredibly elaborate RPG game using Visual Basic.

While the language and program was incredibly limiting, I had tons of fun doing it.

  4. Delirium, I am not sure about the missing followers on the gadget, but I know you have to sign into your account in the gadget. Link is at the bottom of the gadget box. Maybe you just need to sign into it? I am not sure though.

Jack, Java is nice to know, but I believe the language isn't as important to know as just the concept of how programming works and different ways of programming. It doesn't matter if you know C# or Java, because what if a new programing language comes out everyone might learn that and if you know how to program you are better off.
